Profiles and inserts for LED strip.

Nowadays, LEDs have received very wide application. Gradually, all lighting is changing to LED. And if earlier lamps provided for the use of lamps of various designs, now the light source is most often a non-separable design with LED filling. Therefore, over the past few years, the need for profiles and plastic inserts for them has sharply increased.

LED strip in an aluminum profile covered with a plastic insert is the fastest way to make a lamp. Moreover, the variety of profiles and plastic inserts is so great that there can be a huge number of lamp variations.

Profiles for LED strips are divided into three main groups:

Overhead. They are usually attached to already finished surfaces.

Mortise. They are built into a groove specially milled for them. For example, into furniture, to illuminate the kitchen work surface. Or into a plaster groove.

Pendant. Most often used for basic lighting. These are suspended from the ceiling on cables. And special collet clamps allow you to precisely adjust the height of their location.

Inserts for aluminum profiles (they are also called: diffusers, covers, lampshades, lenses, screens, overlays, etc.) are made of acrylic or polycarbonate. Acrylic has maximum light transmission and the LED strip will shine better in it. However, polycarbonate is more resistant to mechanical damage and is cheaper. TM "VERSO" inserts are made in Germany. And meet all international standards.

You can also find inexpensive locally produced PVC inserts on the domestic market. But we do not recommend using them. First of all, the quality of manufacture leaves much to be desired. And they look appropriate, you don’t even need to look closely. Light losses when using them are too high. Sanitary and, most importantly, fire safety measures do not involve placing such inserts in residential, office and commercial premises.

We have a wide variety of inserts for aluminum profiles. These include lenses with different focusing angles. And matte flat and convex light diffusers. And volumetric diffusing lampshades. And flat transparent protective inserts. In addition, many inserts are interchangeable for aluminum profiles of different series. Application. It is not enough to achieve the desired brightness from the lamp . It is important to direct the light flux exactly to what you want to illuminate. And at the same time minimize the light getting into the eyes. Therefore, for comfortable lighting, depending on the task, either focusing lenses or matte diffusers are used. For example, you need to illuminate a counter. It would be optimal to focus the light in such a way that it hits exactly the desired area of the display case where the goods are located. At the same time, it is desirable to avoid the light getting into the eyes of the buyer or seller, or anywhere else. We have acrylic lenses with a dispersion angle of 30º, 60º and 90º. Thanks to this variety, you can choose the right focusing angle based on the size of the counter and the distance of the profile from it.

Interesting fact: when lighting jewelry display cases, they try to avoid using matte diffusers. The light, focused by a transparent lens, from each LED separately, is reflected on the edges and glossy surfaces of jewelry. And the entire display case, from any viewing angle, sparkles and plays with rays of reflected light. Which adds festivity and effectiveness to the exposition.

With the main lighting, on the contrary, the task is most often to diffuse the light flux. To make the light soft and uniform. For this, matte diffusers are put on the profiles. Especially good look lamps in which the LEDs are not guessed under the matte insert. And the entire surface of the plastic glows brightly and evenly. This looks especially great when there is an RGB strip in the lamp. Uniformity is achieved by a large number of LEDs (LEDs in the profile are located close to each other). Or use a profile with greater depth. In which, the uniformity of the glow is achieved by a large distance from the LED to the diffuser.

When lighting high industrial, domestic and warehouse premises, there is no point in using matte inserts, thereby losing part of the light flux. It is enough to simply protect the LEDs from dust, moisture and mechanical damage using a transparent insert.

Technical features. When manufacturing LED luminaires from profiles, heat dissipation is an important parameter. The switched-on LEDs heat up significantly and give off most of the heat to the aluminum frame. This is important to ensure the stability and long service life of the LEDs.

Specifically, as a heat sink, we keep a non-anodized profile in our assortment. It is cheaper. It is used if it is hidden or its visibility is difficult.

Anodizing improves the anti-corrosion properties of aluminum. And strengthens the surface. Saving from scratches and other minor mechanical damage. In general, the anodized profile looks more solid.

To fix the profile to the surface, various fasteners are used, depending on the design. They can also be fixed by drilling and screwing them through with screws or dowels. The ends are closed with plugs during installation.

To illuminate steps in night clubs, cinemas and other not very well-lit places with high attendance, it is often necessary to illuminate steps and thresholds. Our X100 profile with a polycarbonate insert is used for this purpose. Thick aluminum and a powerful plastic insert can withstand high and intensive loads. If you use a regular interior profile on the steps, it will not withstand it. It will be quickly trampled in the literal sense of the word.
